Plant Characteristics Bourbon trees are short and have conical shapes, just like their sibling, Typica. The tree is bushy and has lower branches. The trunk and branches of the tree are comparatively thick. Bourbon trees are more rigid and harvest more than Typica trees. The leaves of the Bourbon tree are wide and have wavy edges. It is a kind of shrub with little chance of getting pests and diseases.
Characteristics of Cherries The cherries grown on the Bourbon tree or shrub are small and round. When ripe, they look reddish, pinkish, and even yellowish in color (depending on the variant of the plant). The cherries have a buttery and sweet flavor. It is low in acidity.
